Code of Conduct
Background
The Boutique Financial Planning Principals Association Inc. (BFP) requires its members to conduct themselves ethically, honestly and with integrity. To this end, BFP has put in place this Code of Conduct (COC).
The COC applies to all members of BFP. Failure to comply with the policies set out in the COC may result in disciplinary action, which can include a referral to the Executive Committee for consideration of termination of membership.
All members are, by virtue of their membership, bound to follow the COC. BFP takes the COC seriously and expects the same of members.
The COC applies equally to conduct occurring as part of a member’s interactions with BFP, as well as conduct of members outside of BFP interactions.
The COC
- Members are required to comply with the law in all their dealings.
- Members are expected to act and show integrity and professionalism in all their dealings.
- Members must act with integrity and uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions.
- Members must not engage in any discriminatory behavior, such as racism, sexism or homophobia.
- Members must not engage in harassment, including sexual harassment.
- Members must not engage in bullying.
- Members should communicate with colleagues and employees, whether orally or in writing, with courtesy and respect.
- The above principles apply to members’ use of social media.
Disciplinary actions
Failure to comply with the COC may result in the BFP deciding to take disciplinary action against a member.
The disciplinary actions will vary based on the offence committe.
Possible consequences include:
- Reprimand
- Warning
- Suspension
- Termination of membership
